Bentwood Chairs

Tomorrow morning I'm picking up this antique pair of Bentwood chairs that I found on bookoo for $5 each!  Honestly, I have no idea what I'm going to do with them, but I couldn't pass them up at that price!

If I had a set of four, I would totally get a tulip table and create this gorgeous arrangement.

Doesn't the natural wood and the white look fabby together?  And I love the juxtaposition of the classic wooden Bentwood chairs with the stark, clean lines of the tulip table, my idea of the perfect mix of old and new.

Ikea has a great and affordable version of the tulip table, the DOCKSTA table, that would be perfect.

Does anyone know of affordable, small tulip tables?  Then I could still create this, but in a bistro version with just my two chairs.  That would be perfect!

If I can't find a bistro sized tulip table, maybe I'll paint them.  I think this is the perfect shade of blue.

Yellow is bright and cheery, but it would be just too much yellow at Big Bird.

I really like the idea of hot pink Bentwoods!

Yet, considering the true antique state of this set of chairs, I'm hesitant to fully paint them.  Maybe I'll leave them their natural wood and then do gold dipped legs like this.

Decisions, decisions!  One thing's for sure...I need a workshop for all my furniture DIYs!

  2. What a find!! They're gorgeous. I vote for leaving natural and gold tipping the feet - they'd look amazing! I love this kind of vintage/modern mix too. I was thinking (day dreaming) about a tulip table for when we move, but the Docksta looks much more within budget - thanks for sharing! Ax

  3. Absolutely love bentwood chairs! I love the cobalt color, too. Go for it! You can always paint over it glossy black if you don't like...

  5. Oh I love the idea of the gold dipped look. I actually love the brown. Of course the hot pink is fantastic too. They would look so cool with the white tulip table!

  7. I love them! I found a pair of awesome ones at a Thrift Store and they're awesome. One thing I would suggest doing before you think about painting them, though... Turn them over and see if they have a maker's stamp. Mine were Made in Czechoslovakia and are apparently worth some dough. If they're Thonet, they're worth a lot of moolah. I think. You might want to google it.

    Much Love,
    Trissta
