As I mentioned before, there are numerous problems with our German rental, Big Bird. German homes are well built, but they are mostly impractical and fuuuugly! One of the problems I mentioned is that there are no cabinets in the bathrooms, no linen cabinets, medicine cabinets, nada. So it's a good thing that using furniture in the bathroom is not only acceptable but pretty darn good looking at you can see from these gorgeous bathrooms!
And it's a good thing I just happened to buy a couple of dressers from a second hand shop prior to moving here to Germany. I had planned on using them in a bedroom but, considering the complete lack of storage in the bathrooms, they have found their way into our master bathroom.
Aren't German bathrooms ugly!? And, no, we don't take shots of vodka in the bathroom...that's our mouth wash. Turns out malachite doesn't always look good. Who would've thunk? While a malachite bathroom floor could be fabulous, not in the form of huge German tiles paired with huge white German tiled walls. Barf. Anyways, the dressers have some fabulous bamboo detailing and solid brass hardware and were scheduled for a paint job makeover but, while they're doomed to serve as bathroom furniture in a fugly German bathroom, I'll leave them as is for now. When they get a bathroom as swoon worthy as the examples above, they'll get their makeover.

I love furniture in the bathroom! Especially when it allows for some pretty sinks on either side!

That first picture is exactly how I would want my bathroom to look. Unfortunately, I have no room for any type of storage but it would be ideal. And I'm dying about the possibility of you going to Paris Fashion Week! eeeeee!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of furniture in a bathroom. Makes it not feel so BATHROOM-ish! :) That fun bright one WOW! What a FUN combination of all that STUFF!
ReplyDeleteHmm...furniture in bathroom.I like it.Although I have never tried it,the pictures are quite nice.I have all the necessary stuff in the cabinets in my bathroom so I have never needed any extra furniture but the idea of having a few addition furniture though a bit weird does sound good.I have a pretty big and spacious bathroom. So i was wondering that maybe I could give it a try and see if it works out for me.
