On Wednesday, Couture Zoo turns one. This is an event I had been looking forward to for some time but, now that it's here, I'm more sad than excited. I'm at a point where I am deciding whether or not to continue this blog.
When I started Couture Zoo, I told myself I would do it as long as it brought me happiness and, to be honest, as of late it has not.
So it is time to say goodbye. Whether this is temporary or permanent is yet to be determined.
I want to thank those of you who have been such amazing supporters of my little blog. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know. To those friends I made through Couture Zoo and have never even met, I will miss having this blog as a forum to communicate. I invite any of you to find me on Facebook (Kecia Spears Beltz) or Instagram (@couturezoo).
Much Love
xx

This makes me so sad to hear! I love hearing all your zoo stories and keeping up with you! Enjoy some time off and hopefully we will see you back in a bit :)
ReplyDeleteI totally get it, girl! You know that I support you no matter what, and I'm more than willing to help, if you decide to come back (which I really hope you do!) I feel like there are a lot of bloggers who have let the 'fame' go to their heads, and instead of handling it with class and style, they leave us 'small time' bloggers in the dust with nothing but a sour taste in our mouths. That's why I've pretty much decided only to work with bloggers that I know and have talked to and understand their style and influences. I become friends with them and then I like them even more... but some bloggers. Ugh. I totally get that feeling. I try not to work with sponsors most of the time (I'm not out to make money on my blog, it's my outlet, not a shit show) so I can keep my focus on my blog. I'm always willing to work with a sponsor, but even then, some of them get demanding and it's just not worth it. Many of them won't even consider working with me, because I don't meet their 'minimum exposure' on my blog. You could look into becoming an affiliate, which might give you a little different experience with being able to work with brands that you like and support, rather than dealing with junky ones who really only care about traffic you generate. Anywho... that was a long, ridiculous rant, but I know that there are many bloggers who can sympathize. Keep your head up lady, and stay in touch! I always love to see your adventures and exciting finds.
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,
Trissta
Oh no!!!! I will miss reading your blogs but I completely understand. I hope that you will come back one day. Love ya!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou will be so missed in my blog feed! I hope in time you will come back to the blogging community. Don't be to downhearted, for every rubbish blogger there is 20 good ones! :D Will definitely miss your zoo stories and always love your interior design posts!
ReplyDeleteTake care for now Kecia! Hopefully you will be back in the near future! I also hope you will continue to have a read at blogs you love! Don't completely cut off from us, because a post from your favourite blogger could just make you want to blog again!
Lots of love, Jen xxx
Oh no :( I understand though... There have been a few times where I have felt discouraged about my blog and whether it was moving in the right direction, or I wasn't feeling inspired like I use to. Maybe a break will make things better, and you will come back with a fresh perspective!
ReplyDeleteXX,
Miranda
So sorry to hear this Kecia. I have enjoyed following you, your blog and seeing your sweet personality shine through. I hope its temporary ... kisses
ReplyDeleteOh no, this makes me sad :( BUT I totally understand where you are coming from. Sometimes I think to myself, why am I doing this? What am I achieving from the effort I am putting in. I am the WORST social networker, so as much content as I put up, I am not very good at building a readership. Some days I love my blog and some days I don't even want to look at it. I used to have 2 blogs, the other one was called Compilation of Cool. I decided to let that one go and turn it into a simple tumblr page which I found far less pressure.
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to get discouraged in this blogosphere because ANYONE and EVERYONE has a blog. Personally, I think your blog is amazing. I always get great interior ideas from you and I love that you have an element of difference with your zoology posts. Maybe just take a break and see if you miss it.
Still looking forward to seeing you on instagram :)
Lots of love. Jess xx
That's a bummer, I always enjoyed your posts showing up in my feed! But you're right about blog things having the ability to bum a person out sometimes. Totally understandable. I hope you can relax a bit and make your way back sometime. I'll keep enjoying the instagram photos in the meantime, and if you ever get over here to Nuremberg, let's get a drink! :) Best, h.
ReplyDeleteYou will be missed Kecia! Your zoo stories and design inspirations are truly one of a kind, so I hope that if you do come back, you will let us all know so that we can follow you again! While I am sad to see you go, I totally understand your reasons for doing so. I , too, struggle with feeling like my blog is not where I want it to be, but don't have the resources or time necessary to devote to getting it to where I'd like to see it. And I, too, find it unsettling that some bloggers get "too big for their britches" - those are definitely not the type of blogs I am interested in following. I'm sorry you've had some negative experiences and hope to see you back to blogging soon!
ReplyDeleteAwww bummer! Maybe you just need a little break to recharge and then you will feel inspired and reenergized. I have found it hard to find the time to blog since I have had my daughter (very sparse posting) and have a hard time commenting on blogs now too unfortunately. But I can't let go of my little blog completely and so am just posting when the mood strikes! The fact that you have sponsors at all is very admirable!
ReplyDeleteKecia - I totally get it, as every six months of my three plus years of blogging I also consider quitting. I really was shocked and amazed by how professional your blog was right off the bat and also by how many followers you accumulated so quickly. You definitely will be missed. I am not on Facebook or Instagram but I hope we can keep in touch. I will keep you on my blogroll on my blog and watch to see if you come back!

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear this - your blog was a favourite new discovery. I love the mix of style and animal stories! I definitely understand much of the sentiments :( but hope you know that I for one really appreciated the time you put into your posts. I hope to see you online (and perhaps we'll meet in Africa someday in the future!)

Totally feel you. In my case, I just don't have the time anymore. I'm not ready to officially give it up, but I can't devote hours a week to it anymore.
ReplyDeleteI am so bummed though, because your blog was so unique and definitely a fav of mine.
Hope we still get to see lots of you on instagram!!
